Publishing 8-10 books a year.

Reading Series: Catch us at Readings on the Bowery (see news/events) where we feature our own authors as well as writers from around the country.

Residency Program: sending one author each spring to the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown.

We are proud recipients of grants from
New York State Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, The Council of Literary Magazines and Presses through their re-grant program, and private foundations. We are also grateful to the private foundations and many individuals who support our programs.

Four Way Books will consider poetry manuscripts for its Intro Prize in Poetry (for poets who have not published a book-length collection) from Janaury 1-March 31, 2010. The judge will be Alan Shapiro. Guidelines will be posted in December. To check the status of a current online submission, go to our submissions manager.

We will also read submissions in June 2010, including poetry collections, (regardless of your publication history), short story collections and novellas.Submissions sent to us in June are selected by our editorial board, not by an outside judge.

On occasion, we read outside of these time frames. However, it is important that you query us first before sending your work to us. If we can accomodate you, we will. Our ability to read outside of the contest and our June Reading Period depends upon our workflow at any given time.

Thank you for your interest in Four Way Books.

Congratulations to Daniel Tobin who has been awarded a 2009 Fellowship in Poetry from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation.

We are proud to announce that Kevin Prufer's National Anthem was selected as one of five 2008 Best Books in Poetry by Publishers Weekly.
